COUNTY COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTIONS
Gillespie County 4-H members will be electing County Council Officers for the 2017-2018 4-H year during the Council meeting on Monday, April 17th. If you will be of high-school-age for the 2017-2018 school year and are interested in running for a position (President, Vice President, Secretary, Reporter, Parliamentarian, or 2 Council Delegate Positions), then you will need to complete the 2017-2018 County Council Officer Application and submit it to the Extension Office by 5:00pm on Monday, April 10th.
County Council officers are required to attend District 10 Leadership Lab, which is scheduled for June 19-21, 2017 in Brownwood. County Council officers are also required to participate in county council officer training, club officer training, and 4 council meetings each year.
Some of the duties for the council positions are described below, but roles may change as opportunities arise or as the county extension agents see fit.
President – attend District 10 officer meetings, preside over and plan council meetings, organize other council officers before events, represent the 4H program at various events throughout the year
Vice President – step in for president if president is absent, plan a game or activity during council meetings, and coordinate meals for council meetings
Secretary – keep minutes for council meetings, conduct meeting roll call
Reporter – take pictures throughout the year to develop slide presentation for annual awards banquet
Parliamentarian -keep order at meetings
Council Delegates – serve as voting delegates at District 10 officer meetings
