YOUTH AGRICULTURAL LIFETIME LEADERSHIP “YALL” TOUR

July 16 -21, 2023

The Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership opportunity is a 5-day exploration for youth to experience East Texas agricultural production practices. Participants will learn the value of technology in livestock & crop production from a commercial perspective. During the trip East participants will have the opportunity to see the diversified agricultural production and various aspects of the agriculture industry. While many youth are interested in some aspect of agriculture production for a career, many are unfamiliar with all of the job opportunities that exist in commercial agriculture production. One of the primary purposes of the Youth Agriculture Lifetime Leadership tour is to provide them with a tour of some of the premier agriculture universities in the country. While each university may offer differing degree programs, they will notice a similarity in the friendly outgoing educators when it comes to agriculture education. Participants will tour Texas A&M University. Tour attendees will also be challenged in a variety of ways to improve on their leadership skills as agriculture spokespersons. Participants will see how numerous agricultural related issues are challenged on a daily basis by groups targeting our food supply system. Participants will be provided opportunities to defend agricultural related topics based off of the information they learn from the tour presenters.

CORE Academy Opportunity

What is the 4-H CORE Academy?

The Career Opportunities Reflecting Excellence Academy is a 4-day exploration program for youth to experience higher education and career choices.  This program will provide youth an opportunity to explore career and leadership opportunities in a diverse global economy as well as learn about post-secondary degree institutions across Texas.  Our goal is to provide youth a connection to meet academic personnel that will help guide their career choices; meet with industry and business professionals to expose them to a variety of career paths in the areas of Hospitality and Tourism, Business and International Relations, Law Enforcement, Foods and Nutrition, Research programs, Wildlife Photography and Corporate careers.  The youth will also see the importance technology plays in the health and business industry.  Many young people are unfamiliar with all the job opportunities that exist. One of the primary purposes of the CORE Academy is to provide them with a tour of some of the premier universities and businesses in South Texas. While each university may offer unique degree programs, they will notice a similarity in the friendly outgoing instructors when it comes to education.

The cost to the participants for the 5 days is $250 per participant submitted with the application. 4-H members that have a strong interest in this diverse tour who are outgoing high school freshmen through incoming seniors are invited to apply and 30 youth will be selected.

Texas Brigades

Texas Brigades is a wildlife and natural resource-focused leadership development organization for youth (ages 13-17).  Each camp is an intense, all inclusive, five day experience led by some of the top wildlife and natural resource professionals in Texas. Approximately 200 youth from throughout the state of Texas are typically served.
These programs feature quail, deer, bass, redfish/marine species, waterfowl or livestock, with an aim to equip youth with the resources and determination needed to make a difference in conservation and land stewardship throughout their lives. Through this experience, participants are introduced to habitat management, hone their communication skills, learn to work together as a team, and develop a land & conservation ethic.
