Why two numbers?
We had a similar problem like this in 2022-2023. For a while I thought the November start date wasn’t accurate, because some Texking and Zest series started blooming in late January 2023. The chill hours around that time were 563 for November start (11/15/2022), 387 for December start(12/15/2022, hit 27 F). So the November start date looked accurate at that point. However, later on that year the higher chill peaches acted as if they didn’t get enough chill hours, and TAMU AgriLife even came out with an article about it later (https://agrilifetoday.tamu.edu/2023/04/18/chill-hours/). So both numbers will be reported until the end of the chilling season.
