Extension Educationin Gillespie County

Agricultural law is an important topic for Texas landowners. This program will provide attendees with information on a broad number of common issues facing landowners from water law to eminent domain to landowner liability, fence law and more. All attendees will receive a hard copy of the "Owning Your Piece of Texas: Top Laws Texas Landowners Need to Know" handbook and will be provided with lunch. Learn Your Lawn & Landscape. Learn about turf grasses, native plants, how to landscape/plan your yard, & trees to use in your yard. This program is great for new landowners! The program cost is $35 per person, with lunch included. RSVP by September 20th by coming by the Extension Office (cash or check only), or register online using the link below (small online fee). Registration will begin at 5:00 pm with the program beginning at 5:30 pm. The cost is $10.00 and payable at the door with no need to RSVP. Two pesticide CEU hours will be offered. Noel Troxclair, Agriculture and Natural Resource agent in Uvalde County, will be speaking at the event. Troxclair will be speaking about Fall Army Worms and Desert Termites. The Bennett Land Stewardship program is a two day conference. On day 1 there will be presentations on ag law, prescribed burn, water well education, and more. On day 2 participants will travel to local ranches, businesses, and wineries. For more information, please click the website link below.

Our 5 Hour CEU Program will be November 17th. Donuts and coffee are included, as is lunch. Cost is $75 and checks should be made payable to Gillespie ANR Committee. For structural applicators, includes 2 hours general (1 laws and regs, 1 general general), 1 pest, 1 lawn/ornamental and 1 weed. For agricultural applicators, 2 general, 1 laws and regs and 2 IPM. The Gillespie County Extension Office is pleased to announce the 2022 Gillespie County Pecan Show on December 15th. Entries are due on December 14th at noon. Commercial and home tree entries are both welcome. To enter, please bring to the Gillespie County Extension Office (38 Business Court) a brown paper bag of 40-42 pecans of the same variety that were grown by you in Gillespie County. This one-day food safety course will equip you with the latest in food safety principles and practices and will help prepare you for the National Certified Food Manager Examination. The cost of this course is $115.00 and includes the course, national certification examination, coursebook, and all course materials. The registration deadline is January 11, 2023. Our Plantastic Gardening Seminar will include topics on basic gardening, hands-on irrigation, tomatoes, vermiculture, composting, melons, container gardening, and pests and varmints.
